Climbing down from my mountain of solitude
It has been quite awhile since I have posted, though I will only take half blame for this. My computer’s battery broke and I was computer-less for around a month. Though it was slightly refreshing to live in a world without computers, tv, iphones, and ipods, it was mainly boring and made the days drag on. Without getting too philosophical about it, I would just say that I am pretty pro technology. We are a social being, and thus those inventions that allow us to be more social, more connected, expand our network, will always be voraciously consumed making things like facebook, iphones, the internet, skype, and any other gadget or application that allows us to keep in almost constant contact will always become a facet of our lives, no matter what drawbacks or caveats that are attached to them.
Now then, I will be posting a bunch of posts/pictures from over the last two months on things such as paste blajinilor (easter of the dead), hrams (“village birthdays”), and the progress, or lack thereof, on my projects.
I will say that we have been having superb weather in Moldova. Except for the occasional pop up storm it has been sunny, 70′s, and green, green, green. The best sensory pleasure of this spring has been all the wonderful smells. Some Moldovans call May the month of the flowers, and it certainly shows. From the cherry blossoms to the tulips to the freshly scythed grass, it is truly enjoyable.
Hai noroc prieteni mei!
